Background

Founded in Québec in 1952 as Bloc Vibré inc., the company merged with Les Industries Fortier Ltée in 1986 to create Permacon Group. Permacon then grew quickly due in part to a series of mergers and acquisitions.

In 2001, Oldcastle, the construction materials multinational company based in Atlanta, Georgia, acquired all of Permacon`s shares. In merging this powerful group, which has over 200 plants across North America and annual sales of CAN$10 billion for 2011, Permacon is in a strong position to flourish in Canada and abroad while accelerating R&D activities.
